Srila Audulomi Maharaj (Guru Maharaj) appeared on 9th December, 1895, on the day of Krishnashtami in the house of Sri Sarat Chandra Guha Thakurata at Banari Para, a village of Barishal District (now in Bangladesh). In the year of 1913, when he was just 18 years old, he met Srila Prabhupad for the first time in the house at Sahanagar Lane (Kalighat, Kolkata). After hearing Hari-Katha from the lips of Srila Prabhupad for 3-4 days, he took Sri Hari Naam and Diksha (initiation) at the same time and he was given the name Patit Paban Das Bramhachary. Srila Prabhupad first offered him the title Vidyarnab, and later in the year 1934 (during the month of Kartik), he was blessed with Tridandi Sannyas order.
From the year 1940 he used to lead the parikrama (circumambulation) of Sri Nabadwip Dham. For some time, he was the superintendent of Sri Chaitanya Math, Mayapur. In 1954, with the instruction of Srila Puri Goswami Thakur he became the Acharya and President of Gaudiya Mission. As an Acharya, he devoted a long 29-year in fulfilling the desires of Srila Prabhupad. It was the midnight of Ekadashi on 6th January in the year 1982 he left this world and entered into the Nikunja-lila (night pastime of Lord Krishna).
