Srila Bhakti Pradip Tirha Maharaj was the most beloved and blessed disciple of Srila Bhakti Vinode Thakur, and most obedient and chief among the sannyasi’s of Srila Prabhupad, and was one of the greatest preacher of the messages of Sri Guru and Gauranga in the western countries. He appeared at Sandip Hatia village of Nokhali district of Bangladesh. His parents Sri Rajani Kant Basu and Smt. Bidhumukhi Basu named him Sri Jagadish Chandra Basu. He got initiated by Srila Bhakti Vinode Thakur. He also got the opportunity of meeting with Srila Gaur Kishore Das Babaji Maharaj. He was the first person to be ordained in the ‘Tridandi Sannyas’ order by Srila Prabhupad and was given the name Bhakti Pradip Tirtha Maharaj. When Acharya Dev (Srila Bhakti Prasad Puri Goswami) became the Acharya and President of Gaudiya Mission, Srila Tirtha Maharaj felicitated him on behalf of all the Tridandi sannyasis. After engaging himself in preaching for a considerable period, with the blessings of predecessor acharyas he immersed in intense bhajan at Puri Dham in 1943. It was a full moon day in the month of November, 1953, while listening to the recitals of Chaitanya Bhagavat at Shri Purushottam Math; he entered into the pastimes of Mahaprabhu.
