On 19th April 1934 Srila Prabhupada visited Gaya, one of the most sacred place of the Hindus, and it is significant that it is the place of Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's initiation. He came here to commit last ritual ceremonies of his father at Sri Vishnu's Padapadma(lotus feet of Lord Vishnu). There he visited the holy places and delivered spiritual discourses among many people belonging to rich, educated and high families.
The very next year in the month of April, Gaya Gaudiya Math was inaugurated with the help of one of the local devotees, Raybahadur Srijukta Kashinath Singh and others at Church Road Hillside. In the same year Sri Sri Radha Govinda jiu and Sriman Mahaprabhu were endowed with life by the lotus hands of Srila Prabhupada. On 1st April, 1936 the Math was shifted to a rented house in the heart of the Gaya city at Ramana Road. Srila Bhakti Keval Audulomi Goswami Maharaj re-built the beautiful temple and inaugurated it on 3rd February, 1968. In the next November the

deities Sri Jagannath, Baladev, Subhadra entered the temple with nine peaks to be worshipped.
The Holy place, Gaya, is significant for Sri Vishnupadapadma . The funeral and rituals ceremonies are being performed by the Hindus at this place to obtain emancipation from the worldly affairs.
