A rented house was taken to establish the Math at 4, Jagatjiban Pura, Kadai Chalk,Varanasi, and Sri Sanatan Gaudiya Math was established on 1st January, 1925 as a centre to practise and propagate the tenets of pure devotion. The Divine Deities ‘Sri Guru Gauranga Radha Binod Binod’ Jiu sprang out from the heart of Srila Prabhupada to be worshipped at the Math on 2nd October 1927. Srila Probhupad arranged and opened a huge exhibition on the spiritual themes, nereby at Michir Pokra in the year 1932.

Later in the year 1935 the Math centre was shifted to 42, Farid Pura. And finally it was shifted to a rented house at 8/17, Baragambhir Sing Road.

While Srila Gurumaharaj was the Acharya, a plot of land was purchased by the Mission which was financed by Sri Shasti Narayan Gorai of Assansol. Srila Gurumaharaj laid the Foundation Stone of the temple to be built.
