Srila Prabhupada established a preaching centre at Cuttack, Orissa. The Deities - Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga and Radha Vinodraman jiu were endowed with life on 3rd July, 1928. On 15th February, 1933, a rich Oriya devotee named Sri Chintamoni Nayak of Baunshagali, Oryabazar, being ordered by the Narayan Saligram Shila Who was worshipped at his home, donated a huge coconut and flower garden as a land to construct a permanent temple for the Deities. Hence 'Sri Satchidananda Math was built. Srila Prabhupada, after foundation of the math said that this math is a place for the surrendered souls to practise devotional activities.
In the same year at a seminar in the Town Hall of Cuttack, Srila Prabhupada delivered a lecture on ' why to worship Srila Guru'. The news was published in the local newspaper named- Utkal Dipika and the news of the mahotsav held at the Math premises was published in the newspaper named- 'Dainik Samaj'.
