Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is the life and soul of the Rupanugas (followers of Sri Rupa Goswami). His very own and associates are Srila Swarup-Damodar, Srila Sanatan Goswami and Sri Rupa Goswami – dearmost to Sri Rupa are Srila Jiva Goswami and Srila Jagannath Das Goswami. Dearmost to Srila Jagannath is Srila Krishna Das Kabiraj Goswami. Beloved of Sri Krishna Das Kabiraj is Srila Thakur Narottam. Srila Visvanath Chakraborty Thakur, a follower of Srila Narottam Das, preserved the Rupanugadhara (Succession). He was famous as ‘Sri Hariballav Das’ in Vraja-mandal towards the end of his life. Srila Baladev Vidyabhusan, the great Acharya of Gaudiya-Vedanta, was a follower and disciple of Srila Visvanath Chakraborty Thakur. He was famous as ‘Govinda Das’ in the Gaudiya Vaishnava community. His follower was Sri Uddhav Das or Sri Uddhar Das. The disciple of Sri Uddhav Das was Sri Madhusudan Das. It should be clearly understood that guru-sishya-dhara (Guru-disciple succession) is as per the Bhagavat parampara, not according to pancharatra.
This Transcendental Mediator or Sri Gurudev is a loving Agent of the All-love and kind to us who are seeking for a tie of love with the All-love. This Embodiment of Love will gradually lead our loving mood to that One Who is the Fountainhead and Mainstay of all aspects of eternal love.
